For DB2 z/OS:

We are pleased to welcome back Jeff Josten from IBM and Kai Stroh from UBS Hainer.

Kai is going to discus the DB2 log.  The DB2 log is a potential gold mine if you know how to seamlessly filter and make complex log data usable. Kai will show you how the DB2 log is structured, what data DB2 stores in the log besides table contents, and how to find the information you are looking for.

While a DB2 version migration usually took months, or even years, there will be no new DB2 version after 12, but continuous code drops.  Jeff will describe the differences between Code, Catalog, Function and Application Levels, how you can control them and how you can fallback in case of anomalies.  This area is so complex, Jeff will deliver 2 presentations on this topic.

For DB2 LUW:

Calisto Zuzarte of IBM is going to educate us on SQL.  This session provides SQL query writing tips and tricks to improve performance in the dashDB and DB2 database systems.

After the SQL presentation, Calisto will cover the enhancements made to INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE and to take ETL performance to the next level.

For the last presentation, Dave McInnis of IBM, will provide an overview of the High Availability and Disaster Recovery features available for DB2 LUW.  Not only will he go into detail, but will review what several customers have actually implemented.

Let’s extend a warm welcome to our presenters.  And don’t forget to register.  We need to get an idea on how many people will be present for breakfast coffee, OJ, bagels, rolls, etc.  A big “thank you” to IBM for sponsoring our breakfast.
