TIME: 21st June 11:00 EST  16:00 BST

Abstract:

Many organizations have workloads that could be described as a mix of short transactions and long-running queries having heterogeneous business importance. A common characteristic is the unpredictability of resources demand for each execution, but end user's response time expectations are always high.

How could we tune a system to protect the important work, penalize bad behaving jobs, and keep end users satisfied?

The z/OS component workload manager (WLM) is a great tool that can help you on this task.

We will discuss WLM from a DB2 person point of view, and about the things that you should know to get the advantages of WLM for DB2 workloads.

This presentation is aimed to provide you an understanding of the concepts that are of most use for DBAs, and the tricks and tips that can help you to protect that work that matters. It comes from personal experiences and industry feedback.
