Exploring new fields is not always about being the first, but all about sharing the experience. GSE is proud that we found a few ‘explorers’ to talk about their DB2 11 for z/OS migration experiences. They will explain the roadmap they followed to get there, illustrated with some first discoveries and even a few war stories.
During this meeting we have presenters from both Euroclear and Colruyt that will be talking about their migration path to DB2 11 and their first experiences with this latest DB2 version.

We will also be looking into how the DB2 requirement process works nowadays. As everybody probably knows, the start of the Early Support Program for DB2 12 has been announced on Oct 6 2015. So this is a good time to start collecting input for future DB2 versions. Besides showing how the Request For Enhancement (RFE) process works, GSE also kindly asks that you think about what you feel is currently missing in DB2 that would make your life easier and/or would allow you to attract more workload to the DB2 for z/OS platform.

One of the topics that is still on our to-do list is ‘system monitoring and tuning’ experiences. The plan is to have a meeting around this topic next year. In preparation for this, CA’s Andy Ward will be setting the scene with a session called “Resetting your Pain thresholds”. He will take a look at some of the metrics you should be monitoring, explain why, and where appropriate, suggest credible ‘up to date’ thresholds you should be implementing to help you proactively monitor your DB2 systems.
Besides the ‘system monitoring and tuning’ topic that we have on our to-do list for next year, we also would like to encourage you to think about topics you would like us to discuss in 2016.

GSE IMS/DB2 working group Belgium is deeply committed to supporting the fieldwork and sees as part of its mission to continue to share ideas and experiences throughout our ongoing journey with DB2 for z/OS.

Don’t miss this excellent afternoon on DB2 11 and take some new tips and tricks home.

CA will provide an opportunity to mingle and learn from your peers during a drink after the meeting.
